"if i should have a daughter"

November 12 2015 | Blog

Sarah Kay is a poet from New York City who has been performing her spoken word poetry since she was fourteen years old. Her work is sweet, honest, raw and graceful all at once. When she performed her poem "If I should have a daughter" at the TED conference in 2011 she got two standing ovations, watch it and you'll see why.

I have the book it's called 'B', originally written in 2007 and beautifully illustrated, it's a treasure, it speaks to mothers, fathers, daughters and sons. Check it out in your local bookstore or here.

Sarah is also involved in Project Voice.

If you want to see more, watch her perform the gorgeous "When love arrives" here.

"This isn't my first time here. This isn't my last time here. These aren't the last words I'll share. But just in case , I'm trying my hardest to get it right this time around." Sarah Kay.
